IRISH DESIGNERS TO WEAR TO AN EVENT
Updated: May 20, 2022
Arnotts have a new section on the womenswear floor dedicated to Irish designers.
There are a lot of stunning dresses and pieces that are very strong, especially to wear to an event.
I have found most pieces to be versatile and items that you could easily wear again, making them an investment purchase.
This is a small selection, there are designers and pieces that I will be incorporating in an upcoming post.
Helen McAlinden is a champion of Irish design, she was the Irish designer who was there before Irish design was really having a moment and you can feel that McAlinden really knows how to dress women's bodies and make them feel confident.
I have always found her pieces to be so well cut, the fabric and the colours are really good quality, these are pieces that really stand the test of time.
There were many pieces I wanted to try on but I chose to focus on two dresses.

This Apricot dress is the nicest thing to put on, it felt like it was tailor made and I felt it was very flattering.
I tried on in a size 10 which I felt was true to size.
The length is very flattering, this would be great with a pair of embellished mules or heels at an event. I think it could be easily dressed down with a pair of leopard loafers.
For a summer evening on holidays, I would pair it with either birkenstocks or converse and a denim jacket.

This navy dress comes in a pleated silk, it it flattering on and can easily be worn to an event and also in a more corporate setting with a clever jacket, I think a red boucle jacket would be ideal.
I tried it on in a S and there it was roomy but the style is a little oversize which is flattering in many sizes.
I would pair this dress with braided sandals from Bottega Veneta.
I think this dress could be a year long number and work with black tights in the colder months.

This dress from Fee G was true to size in a size 10, it was well cut and it felt it nicely highlighted the waist.
The embroidery on the sleeves is really nice, the shape is a little more casual than the other outfits in this post but it could be dressed up with the right shoes and a gold chain minaudiere.
I wore it with trainers to show how it could be dressed down and a very versatile piece which could follow you for the whole summer.

Roisin Linnane had so many separates to choose from, I settled on two pieces which I felt would be very easy to use again separately or together.
Those silk trousers were a great fit on in a size 10. The cut is really good and the fabric felt very luxurious, they are a great option for an event in off white. A lot of the top options from Linnane were black, but I picked this gorgeous fuschia kimono jacket, this comes in only one size. I styled it on its own with the trousers, I love that look, it looks amazing for an event, if in doubt you can wear a camisole underneath, tighten it or loosen it as you wish and you can always invest in sole fail safe Hollywood tape.
I would pair that with a simple leopard print court shoe or a flat golden sandal.
