Personal Style - Is it something we can learn?
I recently read a Harpers Bazaar article, in which industry professionals were sharing the opinion that neither a good Pinterest board, nor all the style tips in the world will be able to give the masses what some people have : an innate sense of style.

As a stylist who aims to give women their confidence back through their style, I have to admit I don’t really know what to think about that.
I have to say, I have witnessed people who have an innate sense of style, it is sometimes influenced by being born into a family rooted in fashion, but sometimes not. We all know that woman who can shop solely second hand and can wear a few old fast fashion pieces but always looks uniquely fabulous. These people have natural personal style, they generally get inspired constantly, as they go : in the street, when they see a photo exhibition or when they watch a movie. They see things most people don’t and spot details in unique places. Those people’s sense of style and that eye for fashion might not be something you can learn easily, but there are many other things you can do to hone your personal style.

So, we might feel there is no hope for the rest of the population, but if you cannot gain an innate sense of style, you can learn to style a good outfit with basic knowledge. That is a huge part of my job ; I share tips, I help people find their personal style and I give them pointers to build a nice look that will be flattering and give them confidence.
What most of my clients are looking for is stylish outfits that they feel comfortable in and that they can build quickly when getting ready in the morning. There are many insider tips which I share to help my clients with every day dressing. Confidence comes instantly when you feel you are in the right clothes, I see people stand taller and walk with more confidence instantly.
So, maybe an innate sense of style isn’t for everybody, and that’s fine, we all have our skills and areas we can shine in, but I do believe that dressing well for you is something you can learn, and like a muscle you work out at the gym, the more you do it, the better you become at it.
